THE FASHION JOURNEY
A Six-Month Introductory Course in Fashion Design & Basic Patternmaking for Teens and Adults
Duration: 6 months

• 1 weekly in-person session (9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.)
• 1 weekly virtual group session (1 hour)

Final Project:
Design and construction of a mini collection
(1 skirt and shirt look or 1 dress)
Introduction
This intensive course is designed for teenagers and adults with the attitude to explore and express themselves through fashion and the aptitude to develop creative and technical skills. It offers a complete introduction to fashion design, covering the entire creative process — from inspiration and moodboards to design development, patternmaking, muslin prototyping, garment construction, and final presentation.
Through a hands-on and progressive methodology, participants learn and apply hand and machine sewing techniques throughout the course, directly connected to their personal projects.
The program also includes guest sessions with fashion industry professionals, offering real-world insight, inspiration, and a broader understanding of the fashion industry.

Course Overview
This 6-month intensive course is divided into six progressive modules, guiding participants through the full fashion design process — from idea to finished garment.
Module 1 · Fashion Design Foundations
Introduction to fashion design, creative research, personal style, and concept development. Includes an introduction to hand sewing and sewing machines.
Module 2 · From Concept to Design
Basic fashion drawing, textile experimentation, and design development. Continued practice of machine sewing techniques.
Module 3 · Materials & Patternmaking
Fabric selection, body measurements, basic patternmaking, and pattern transformation according to individual designs.
Module 4 · Prototyping in Muslin
Muslin construction, fittings, pattern corrections, and refinement of garment structure.
Module 5 · Garment Construction & Finishing
Assembly of final garments, fittings, corrections, and professional finishes.
Module 6 · Final Adjustments & Presentation
Final sewing details, closures, styling, and presentation of the completed project in a final showcase.
Sewing skills (hand and machine) are introduced and reinforced throughout the course, always applied directly to each participant’s project.
